Rip Current Statement issued September 25 at 3:33PM EDT until September 26 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ * WHAT...For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, up to one half foot of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...Coastal Ocean. * WHEN...For the High Rip Current Risk, through Thursday evening. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 11 PM EDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...At this level, flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, and along inland tidal waterways. Some partial or full road closures are possible. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect through Thursday evening's high tide cycle mainly for tidal flooding in the back bays of Barnegat Bay. If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
