Special Weather Statement issued June 18 at 2:59PM CDT by NWS Birmingham AL At 259 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Montgomery to Ramer to near Rutledge. Movement was northeast at 50 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Eastern Montgomery, Troy, Tuskegee, Union Springs, Brundidge, Clio, Midway, Goshen, Meadville, Milstead, Pike Road, Louisville, Shorter, Banks, Franklin, Pickett, Dublin, Auburn University In Montgomery, Lake Tuskegee, and Beans Crossroads. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for south central, southeastern and east central Alabama.

Flood Advisory issued June 18 at 3:02PM CDT until June 18 at 5:00PM CDT by NWS Birmingham AL Periods of heavy rainfall will be possible through the remainder of the afternoon. This will produce areas where water ponds on the roads and could make driving hazardous. Additionally, small streams and ditches may become full over have minor overflow in areas of poor drainage. * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central Alabama, including the following county, Montgomery. * WHEN...Until 500 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 300 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
