Flood Watch issued July 15 at 1:30PM MST until July 15 at 11:00PM MST by NWS Flagstaff AZ * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of east central and west central Arizona, including the following areas, in east central Arizona, Northern Gila County. In west central Arizona, Oak Creek and Sycamore Canyons, Yavapai County Mountains and Yavapai County Valleys and Basins. * WHEN...Until 11 PM MST this evening. * IMPACTS...Flash flooding will be possible in creeks, normally dry washes, swimming holes, and over recently burned areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Abundant monsoon moisture is in place. Thunderstorms developing over the higher terrain will move into the watch area during the afternoon and evening. Some storms will be capable of producing 1-2" of rain in less than one hour. - Additional information is available at weather.gov/flagstaff. Have a way to receive Flash Flood Warnings and be prepared to take action should warnings be issued.

Special Weather Statement issued July 15 at 4:35PM MST by NWS Phoenix AZ At 434 PM MST, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Sunflower to 9 miles south of Coon Creek CG to near San Carlos. Movement was west at 10 mph. Conditions are becoming more favorable for the development of additional thunderstorms. Some storms may become strong to severe. Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible. Locations impacted include... Globe, Superior, Hayden, Christmas, Sycamore Creek, Ballantine Trailhead, Roosevelt, Round Valley, Sunflower, San Carlos, Miami, Cutter, Hilltop, Roosevelt Dam, Top-Of-The-World, Sawmill, Central Heights-Midland City, Tonto National Monument, Four Peaks, and Apache Lake. This includes the following highways... US Highway 60 between mile markers 227 and 285. AZ Route 87 between mile markers 209 and 229. AZ Route 70 between mile markers 253 and 271. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
