Flood Warning issued July 4 at 6:50PM CDT until July 5 at 2:00PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Significant flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of the following counties, Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will. * WHEN...Until 200 PM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams will rise out of their banks. Extensive street flooding is occurring. Flooding of structures and basements is possible. High water may be slow to recede from flooded areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 649 PM CDT, local law enforcement, emergency dispatch departments, and highway departments reported widespread flooding across the area. Some significant flooding is ongoing with multiple roadways impassable and basements flooded. Up to 6 inches of rain have fallen due to earlier thunderstorms. Because heavy rainfall has ended, worsening of flood impacts is not expected over the next several hours. However, as water moves into rivers and streams, river levels will continue to rise. In addition, standing water in flooded areas will be slow to recede. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Chicago, Aurora, Naperville, Schaumburg, Bolingbrook, Oak Lawn, Wheaton, Downers Grove, Bartlett, Streamwood, Carol Stream, Romeoville, Plainfield, Hanover Park, Glendale Heights, Woodridge, Oswego, Burbank, West Chicago and Batavia. - This includes the following streams and their tributaries... Mill Creek and Waubonse Creek near Aurora. West Branch DuPage River near Carol Stream, Warrenville, and Naperville. East Branch DuPage River near Morton Arboretum and Lisle. St Joseph Creek, Prentiss Creek, Sawmill, and Flag Creek in the Downers Grove, Darien, and Westmont areas.
