Flood Warning issued July 4 at 11:01PM CDT until July 5 at 2:00PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Significant flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of northeast Illinois, including the following counties, Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will. * WHEN...Until 200 PM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams will rise out of their banks. Extensive street flooding is occurring. Flooding of structures and basements is possible. High water may be slow to recede from flooded areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1058 PM CDT, local law enforcement, emergency dispatch departments, and highway departments reported widespread flooding across the area. Some significant flooding is ongoing with multiple roadways impassable and basements flooded. Up to 6 inches of rain fell due to earlier thunderstorms. Because heavy rainfall has ended, worsening of flood impacts is not expected over the next several hours. However, as water moves into rivers and streams, river levels will continue to rise. In addition, standing water in flooded areas will be slow to recede. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Chicago, Aurora, Naperville, Schaumburg, Bolingbrook, Oak Lawn, Wheaton, Downers Grove, Bartlett, Streamwood, Carol Stream, Romeoville, Plainfield, Hanover Park, Glendale Heights, Woodridge, Oswego, Burbank, West Chicago and Batavia. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Warning means flooding is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along rivers, creeks, and other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. East Branch Du Page River at Bolingbrook affecting Will and DuPage Counties. For the East Branch Du Page River...including Bolingbrook...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...East Branch Du Page River from Maple Avenue in Lisle downstream to confluence with West Branch DuPage River, including the Bolingbrook gauge. * WHEN...Until Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, Low-lying trails of Trout Farm Park are inundated in Bolingbrook. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:40 PM CDT Saturday the stage was 21.3 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:40 PM CDT Saturday was 21.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 21.5 feet just after midnight tonight.
