Lakeshore Flood Warning issued February 25 at 7:33PM CST until February 26 at 3:00PM CST by NWS Chicago Cook; Lake ...LAKESHORE FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM CST WEDNESDAY... * LAKE SHORE FLOODING...Northeast wind gusts of 40 mph and waves of 8 to 12 feet will produce lakeshore flooding on the Illinois shore of Lake Michigan. Winds are expected to turn northwest Wednesday afternoon. * TIMING...Through Wednesday afternoon. The worst conditions are expected from daybreak through early afternoon Wednesday. * IMPACTS...The winds and large battering waves combined with record high lake levels will exacerbate already significant beach and shoreline erosion sustained in the past several months. Vulnerable structures along the shore may be heavily damaged. The water will likely threaten some roads and low- lying parks along the lake, as well. Large waves may sweep onlookers into the lake. A Lakeshore Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or imminent along the lake. Residents on or near the shore in the warned area should be alert for rising water...and take appropriate action to protect life and property.
