For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values of 105 to 110 expected. * WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri. * WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, until 8 PM CDT /9 PM EDT/ this evening. For the Extreme Heat Warning, from 11 AM CDT /noon EDT/ Monday to 8 PM CDT /9 PM EDT/ Thursday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An extended duration heatwave will impact the region through at least Thursday. Overnight lows will only fall into the mid 70s, providing little relief. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Wabash River at New Harmony. .Recent torrential rainfall over the Wabash River basin has resulted in minor flooding at New Harmony. For the Wabash River...including New Harmony...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Wabash River at New Harmony. * WHEN...Until late Thursday evening. * IMPACTS...At 15.0 feet, The river overflows low ground on the Illinois side. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:30 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 16.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 16.9 feet early tomorrow afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Thursday afternoon. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
