Flood Watch issued June 24 at 11:45AM CDT until June 26 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of central and south central Kansas, including the following counties, in central Kansas, Barton, Ellsworth, Lincoln, McPherson, Rice, Russell and Saline. In south central Kansas, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. * WHEN...From late tonight through Friday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Several rounds of thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall are expected from late tonight through early Friday morning. While not everyone will see flooding from rainfall, it appears likely that several locations will receive enough rainfall to cause flooding concerns. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
