Some storms will produce excessive rainfall on soils already saturated from previous rains, with continued runoff concerns. * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of central, south central, southwest, and west central Kansas, including the following counties, in central Kansas, Ellis and Rush. In south central Kansas, Barber, Comanche, Edwards, Kiowa, Pawnee, Pratt and Stafford. In southwest Kansas, Clark, Finney, Ford, Grant, Gray, Hamilton, Haskell, Hodgeman, Kearny, Meade, Morton, Seward, Stanton and Stevens. In west central Kansas, Lane, Ness, Scott and Trego. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. South Fork Ninnescah River near Pratt affecting Pratt County. For the SF Ninnescah River...including Pratt...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...South Fork Ninnescah River near Pratt. * WHEN...From this afternoon to late tomorrow evening. * IMPACTS...At 9.0 feet, Expect overflow of banks. Stream overflows narrowly on the left bank and more broadly on the right bank. Stream is approximately 260 ft wide at this stage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 4.3 feet. - Bankfull stage is 5.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this afternoon to a crest of 9.1 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage late this evening. - Flood stage is 9.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 9.1 feet on 10/04/2002. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
