LOUIS THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF AITKIN, BRAINERD, CASS LAKE, CLOQUET, DULUTH, EAST GULL LAKE, ESTERDY, GRAND RAPIDS, HINCKLEY, INTERNATIONAL FALLS, LAKE SHORE, PINE CITY, PINE RIVER, SCHLEY, AND WALKER. Lake Superior west of a line from Saxon Harbor WI to Grand Portage MN beyond 5NM... Port Wing to Sand Island WI... Silver Bay Harbor to Two Harbors MN... Two Harbors to Duluth MN... At 628 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm capable of producing winds to around 25 knots, very heavy rain and dangerous lightning. This thunderstorm was located over Barkers Island, or near Duluth Lift Bridge Channel, moving northeast at 25 knots. Locations impacted include... Two Harbors Protected Access Agate Bay, Superior Entry, Knife River Marina, Brule Point, McQuade Harbor, Barkers Island, Superior Harbor, Larsmont, Duluth Harbor, Duluth Lift Bridge Channel, Stoney Point, and French River. Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 25 knots, locally higher waves, very hevay rain, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Dense fog was reducing visibilities to below 1 mile. Reduce your speed, and keep a lookout for other vessels, buoys, and breakwaters. Keep your navigation lights on. If not equipped with radar, you should consider seeking safe harbor.
