For the Bogue Chitto River...including Tylertown, Franklinton, Bush...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Bogue Chitto River at Franklinton. * WHEN...From this evening to Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...At 16.0 feet, Bogue Chitto Heights Subdivision will begin to flood. Some homes will be damaged. Homes on the west bank north of Louisiana Highway 10 will flood. It is recommended that sand and gravel operations be stopped and equipment secured. Access roads to recreational areas will flood. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:15 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 5.2 feet. - Bankfull stage is 12.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this evening and continue rising to a crest of 15.5 feet tomorrow evening. It will then fall below flood stage early Sunday afternoon. - Flood stage is 12.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 15.7 feet on 02/22/2014. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms with locally very heavy rainfall are expected today and potentially continuing through tonight. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
