Flood Watch issued June 13 at 4:11AM CDT until June 14 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Kansas, including the following areas, Johnson KS, Leavenworth, Linn KS, Miami and Wyandotte and Missouri, including the following areas, Bates, Cass, Clay, Henry, Jackson, Johnson MO, Lafayette, Pettis and Platte. * WHEN...Through Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Scattered thunderstorms with very heavy rain will continue this morning. Thunderstorms will become more widespread later this afternoon and evening. Areas that receive multiple rounds of heavy rain may experience flooding. Platte River At Sharps Station affecting Platte County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Platte River at Sharps Station. * WHEN...Until late Monday night. * IMPACTS...At 26.0 feet, Low-lying rural land along the river begins to flood. At 29.0 feet, Backwater from the Platte River floods Highway KK along the Little Platte River at the location 0.2 miles east of Highway B. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:30 PM CDT Friday the stage was 22.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 27.2 feet early Sunday morning. It will then fall below flood stage early Monday morning. - Flood stage is 26.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
