Fire Weather Watch issued June 25 at 1:43PM MDT until June 27 at 8:00PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR MUCH OF NORTHWEST AND NORTHEAST NEW MEXICO AS WELL AS THE CENTRAL HIGHLANDS... .Critical fire weather conditions will return on Saturday across much of northwest and northeast New Mexico as well as the Central Highlands. Strong southwest winds with gusts up to 45 mph and humidity values falling below 15 percent are expected. Spotty wetting rainfall the next couple of days will not significantly improve fuel dryness, with the northwest remaining the driest portion of the state. Any lightning-started fires will have the potential to grow quickly under these fire weather conditions. * AFFECTED AREA...Northwest Plateau (Zone 101), Northeast Plains (Zone 104), West Central Mountains (Zone 105), North Central Mountains (Zone 120), Upper Rio Grande Valley and Lower Chama River Valley (Zone 121), Northeast Highlands (Zone 123), and Central Highlands (Zone 125). * TIMING...From Saturday morning through Saturday evening. * 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Relative humidity between 8 to 15 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Special Weather Statement issued June 25 at 2:44PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM At 244 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong thunderstorms extending from 6 miles northeast of Torreon to western Rio Rancho to 18 miles west of South Valley, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Bernalillo, Corrales, Los Ranchos De Albuquerque, Northern Meadows, Paradise Hills, Cabezon, Rio Rancho City Center and Rio Rancho Intel Area. This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 132 and 157. Highway 550 between Mile Markers 1 and 14. Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 235 and 243. Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. Blowing dust associated with strong thunderstorm winds can reduce visibility below one quarter mile at times.
