Heat Advisory issued June 30 at 12:23PM EDT until July 3 at 7:00PM EDT by NWS Burlington VT * WHAT...Heat index values between 95 and 104 expected. * WHERE...Portions of northern New York and most of central and northern Vermont, including the Northeast Kingdom. * WHEN...From noon Wednesday to 7 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The highest heat index values will occur between 1 PM and 5 PM daily from Wednesday through Friday. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Special Weather Statement issued June 30 at 1:26PM EDT by NWS Burlington VT At 125 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7 miles north of Kring Point State Park, moving southeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Hammond Village, Richville, Gouverneur Village, Gouverneur, Hermon, Macomb, Rossie, Fowler, Pitcairn, Edwards, Hammond, Morristown, Russell, De Kalb, Fine, Chippewa Bay, Talcville, South Edwards, North Gouverneur, and West Fowler. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for northern New York.
