Special Weather Statement issued July 11 at 4:57PM EDT by NWS Charleston SC At 457 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong thunderstorms extending from over Southern Lake Moultrie to 6 miles northwest of Hendersonville, moving southeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville, Goose Creek, Hanahan, Moncks Corner, Walterboro, Edisto Beach, Ladson and Givhans Ferry State Park. This includes the following highways... I-26 between mile markers 180 and 221. I-526 between mile markers 11 and 31. I-95 in South Carolina between mile markers 42 and 70. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Charleston Harbor... At 517 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from near Capers Island Buoy to 15 NM northwest of Saint Helena Sound, moving south at 30 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts in excess of 50 knots. SOURCE...Public reported. IMPACT...Boats could suffer significant structural damage in high winds. Small craft could capsize in suddenly higher waves. Locations impacted include... Charleston Nearshore Reef, Air Force Reef, Charleston Coastal Anglers, Joe Shuford Reef, Charleston Sixty, Rattlesnake Shoal, Lowcountry Anglers, Charleston Harbor Entrance, Crab Bank, Castle Pinkney, Capers Reef, Wappoo Cut, Capers Island Buoy, Kiawah Reef and Bull Breakers. Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes. Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are expected.

Flood Advisory issued July 11 at 5:19PM EDT until July 11 at 8:15PM EDT by NWS Charleston SC * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Charleston County in southeastern South Carolina... * WHEN...Until 815 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 518 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Thunderstorms are developing around the City and will impact Downtown Charleston over the next 60 to 90 minutes. Intense rainfall will product hourly rainfall rates in excess of 1 inch per hour. Minor flooding of roadways can be expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Mount Pleasant, Downtown Charleston, West Ashley, Charles Towne Landing, Medical University Of South Carolina, Marion Square, Columbus Street Terminal and The Citadel. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
