Any fires that ignite may spread rapidly and become difficult to suppress.

Extreme Heat Warning issued July 12 at 10:48AM CDT until July 16 at 10:00PM CDT by NWS Aberdeen SD * WHAT...Prolonged dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 105. * WHERE...Campbell, Corson, Dewey, Potter, and Walworth Counties. * WHEN...Until 10 PM CDT /9 PM MDT/ Thursday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

The National Weather Service in Aberdeen SD has issued a Fire Weather Watch. * AFFECTED AREA...In South Dakota, Corson, Campbell, and Dewey. * TIMING...From Monday afternoon through Monday evening. * WINDS...South winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Relative Humidity between 18 to 22 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible during the valid watch time. These conditions could promote the rapid spread of wildfires which could become life-threatening. Check weather.gov/abr/fire for forecast updates and a possible upgrade of this watch to a Red Flag Warning. Follow all fire restrictions. Avoid activities that could cause sparks.
