Winds may temporarily turn northwesterly and lighter on Friday night behind an initial cold front before returning to strong out of the southwest on Saturday. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 7 percent with little overnight recovery Friday night. * IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected. Special Weather Statement issued June 25 at 2:19PM MDT by NWS Salt Lake City UT At 219 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Magna to Taylorsville. Movement was northeast at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Murray, Bountiful, Taylorsville, Holladay, South Salt Lake, North Salt Lake, Woods Cross, Summit Park, Emigration Canyon, Millcreek, Kearns, Mount Olympus, Salt Lake City International Airport, Magna, East Millcreek, Cottonwood West, Canyon Rim, and Sugarhouse. This includes the following highways... Interstate 15 between mile markers 300 and 315. Interstate 80 in Utah between mile markers 108 and 135. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
