Special Weather Statement issued June 27 at 11:36AM MDT by NWS Salt Lake City UT At 1135 AM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Salt Lake City International Airport, or 7 miles west of Salt Lake City, moving northeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Bountiful, Farmington, North Salt Lake, Centerville, Woods Cross, West Bountiful, Salt Lake City International Airport, Magna, Emigration Canyon, Fruit Heights, and Antelope Island State Park. This includes the following highways... Interstate 15 between mile markers 307 and 325. Interstate 80 in Utah between mile markers 104 and 119. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
