Heat Advisory issued June 20 at 3:10AM EDT until June 20 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Burlington VT * WHAT...Heat index values up to 100. * WHERE...All of Vermont and northern New York. The hottest conditions will be in portions of the Champlain and Connecticut River Valleys. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Indoor temperatures may continue to rise after peak heating hours in poorly ventilated spaces. Those without air conditioning should consider the potential for lingering health impacts while indoors late in the day.

Special Weather Statement issued June 20 at 3:43PM EDT by NWS Burlington VT At 343 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Morristown, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Morrisville, Greensboro, Stowe, Hardwick, Hyde Park, Wolcott, Worcester, Bolton, Morrisville Village, Woodbury, Waterbury, Underhill State Park, Craftsbury, Morristown, Hyde Park Village, Elmore, Calais, Johnson Village, Cambridge, and Johnson. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for central, northeastern and northwestern Vermont.
